Frag Tank

Coral propagation tank

Definition

A frag tank is a separate shallow tank dedicated to coral propagation, typically with a single layer of egg-crate covered in frag plugs.

Practical use

Standard frag tank: 24-48 inches long, 12-15 inches deep, with low-flow + moderate light. Often plumbed into the main display's sump for shared parameters. Frag-and-grow operations sell plugs once corals encrust.
